Petition seeking a just court decision

The nuclear disaster at the "Fukushima Reactor No. 1" of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) has been　an incident without historical precedent. Concerned citizens are submitting the lawsuit "Nariwai kaese, chiiki okaese!" (Restore our livelihoods! Return our homes!) to the court with the aim of holding the State of Japan　and Tepco liable for this disaster and requiring them to provide aid and redress for the claimants. In this once-in-a- century court case, our whole civilizational attitude towards nuclear disaster is at stake. The claimants　have pushed ahead with this legal case with the goal of obtaining relief for all victims of this disaster and　ensuring that the same errors will never be repeated again in the future. We are convinced that the court　decision will become a world turning point and benchmark regarding such accidents. Hence we earnestly hope　that the court of justice responds in proportion to the great burden which this disaster has imposed on the　people of Japan and renders a fair judgement.
